I have been shooting film since I was little. My first camera was a 110 film camera. I took pictures of everyone and everything. In 2004, after graduating from Anderson University with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Psychology, I started studying photography. It was one of the best and hardest decisions I've ever made.
I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan and spend time all throughout Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois. I am also a bellydancer! I dance with two dance companies: the Grand Rapids-based ShimmyUSA dance company (under the direction of Sarah Mayne), and the international Earthshaker Dance Company (under the direction of Yasmina Ramzy).
I am a knitter, writer, costumer, a cat owner, and I collect vintage cameras. My favorite vintage camera is my Yashica FX-2 and it still works! I am also a LGBTQ+ ally and I believe that Trans Rights are Human Rights.
I am a storyteller. I love sharing stories. Stories that radiate from you. I want to show you the best version of yourself. The version that you see in the mirror. The version that you love. Beauty is all around us and inside us. I want to draw that out and show it to you.
Photoshoots with me are fun. You can expect a welcoming atmosphere, free of judgment, and a photographer that likes to crack dad jokes. Here's one of my favorite silly jokes:
How many elephants can you fit in a mini-cooper?
-Two in the front and two in the back.
How many giraffes can you fit in a mini-cooper?
-None; it's full of elephants.
I’d love to meet you and hear your ideas for your photo shoot! Please call or email me for more information. I’d love to chat with you about your ideas and get to know you. We can chat over Skype or Zoom, talk over the phone, text over WhatsApp, or chat in person at a coffee shop. If you’re a fellow photographer, I’d love to chat with you about photography and get to know you too.
